Retired Therapy Dog
I have been meaning to write this post for quite some time now, but just never seemed to get around to it. As many of you know, Remington has been a Therapy Dog for almost two years. Once Roarke was born we both took a bit of a break from doing visits at the nursing home until we both adjusted to a new baby.

I wouldnt say that Remington adjusted badly to having a baby around, but he has definitely struggled with it. As time has progressed I have noticed more and more jealously come out in Remington. He started to become extremely clingy to me and during our Therapy Dog visits I noticed that he was losing interest in visiting with the residents and just pretty much wanted my attention at all times. Then one evening during a visit he snapped at an employee for no reason at all and I knew it was no longer in mine or Remingtons best interest to do visits anymore... I just couldnt take the chance of him biting someone.
Not being able to go visit our residents every week was a hard adjustment for us and it was really heartbreaking for me to not be able to volunteer with Paws and Think in that way anymore. But what is more important than Remington being a good Therapy Dog is that Remington is a good family dog... and that is what we are focusing on now.
Remington continues to develop his relationship with Roarke and Dan and I continue to make sure that we give Remington the attention and love that he is use to. But it is a learning experience for all of us, especially as Roarke becomes more and more mobile. Not only does Remington have to learn to be more tolerant and patient, but I also have to make sure to teach Roarke the proper way to treat dogs.

Lessons in Lifting
This past week Roarke FINALLY started to lift his head a lot during tummy time. I was beginning to get a little worried because I knew this milestone should be taking place, but it just hadnt been happening. I tried to be patient since I know all kids do things at their own pace, but our 4 month check up is coming up soon and I didnt want to have to tell the doctor he hadnt done this yet. Im predicting that Roarke will also begin to roll over very soon. He did this at about 1 month old but hasnt since and the doctor thought that it was probably just an accident since it was so early on. Even though I absolutely love to see Roarke learning to do new things and becoming stronger and stronger... I also find myself tearing up daily because my baby is disappearing. I never would have thought I could love a tiny human as much as I do him!

Im sure from here on out there will be a rapid occurrence of milestones taking place. When people tell you that they just dont stay little long, boy are they right, I feel like I blinked and time was gone. So thankful that I have been able to spend almost every moment with him. Im so blessed!
Christmas 2015
Christmas was different this year with a six month old baby in the house. Christmas was never much of a big deal for Dan and I, but obviously times have changed and its much more fun with a little one around. Here is our Christmas recap in a few words and lots of pictures!

Roarke got a jumper from his Grams and Gramps! That gummy smile says it all about how he feels about it :)
My dad picked out this special book for Roarke. It features Farmer "Fowler" and all his farm machines! The perfect gift for Roarke from my Dad!
What do you do when you have a baby and want to eat Christmas dinner with the family? Make him the centerpiece on the table of course! "Get me some ham Mom!"
Roarke and his cousin Mae! They are about 6 months apart in age! Sweetness overload!
After Christmas in P-town with my side of the family we headed to Ohio to celebrate with Dans side!
Of course Roarke was quite busy with his cousins. I had to laugh at how he seemed to just take in everything that they did :)
So many people love him like crazy! Its nice to see and feel from everyone.
Roarke will grow up with two very different types of families I have decided after the holidays together. My family is pretty small and things are very low key most of the time. Dans family on the other hand is very big and things get pretty crazy when they are all together. Hell have the best of both worlds :)

Santa Train
So Im not really one to follow the crowd necessarily, but I guess when you have a kid you find yourself not wanting them to miss out on things. So when I saw that the Santa Train was coming to Bargersville I thought to myself... "Perfect! Small town, small crowd... we wont have to wait in a long line to see Santa!" Oh my my... how wrong I was!
So on Friday Dan and I loaded Roarke up and headed out with grand thoughts of getting our kids picture with Santa Clause! We even left early to make sure we wouldnt have to stand in line too horribly long. How naive first time parents are....

So on Friday Dan and I loaded Roarke up and headed out with grand thoughts of getting our kids picture with Santa Clause! We even left early to make sure we wouldnt have to stand in line too horribly long. How naive first time parents are....
When we arrived I quickly spotted the line to see Santa Clause... and then my eyes followed it to the end... which was two blocks away! HOLY COW! What did I get us into! We walked down to take our spot, but quickly decided that waiting in line with a 6 month old in 30 degree weather for probably 2 hours wasnt our thing. Especially when your kid doesnt care about Santa or if he even gets presents this year. So instead we took a few pictures and went home where it was warm.
Who needs a picture with Santa when you can get one with a live reindeer instead!
Olaf was pretty cool too!

Even though we didnt see Santa we still had fun and Roarke enjoyed getting outside and breathing in some fresh air! We also learned that Santa is a hot commodity and the earlier you come the better. Ill file that lesson away for next year ;)
