Day 11 on the Fast Metabolism Diet 5 9 13

So this week has been extremely slow (or non-existent) for weight loss, which could be expected being the amount I lost last week.  But, its very frustrating knowing that Im eating well and working out and not seeing the scale budge.  I went out to Haylies blog (author of the book) and read about what to do if you get stuck or plateau (link below).  It looks like Ill try to mix up the foods Im eating a little more and perhaps try something new in the coming days.  Im following the plan to a T, I just have to stick to it and finish it out.  I still have a goal to make it into the mid-140s by the end of the month.  Heres the link to Haylies blog post about stuck metabolism:

I guess both my husband and I had some cravings yesterday - and maybe it wasnt so much as a craving but more as thoughts of what I plan to eat on cheat day - Day 29!  Yes, I do plan to have a cheat day when we are done, but then the plan is to have home cooked meals as much as possible and have those cheat meals only every once in a while.

Morning Weigh In:
Kiana: 154.8 lbs
Anthony: 248.4 lbs

Menu:

Breakfast @ 6:45 am:
Turkey bacon and celery

Snack @ 9:15am:
Beef jerky and cucumber

Lunch @ 1:30pm:

Filet mignon and cucumber

Snack @ 3:45pm:
Beef jerky and cucumber

Dinner @ 7:15pm:

Grilled Chicken and broccoli

Workout:
P90X Legs and Back

Notes on Food:
We put the brocolli in a grill pan and grilled it along with the chicken for dinner.  I bought a salt-free seasoning called Smoke at Trader Joes. Its pretty tasty, though the husband thinks its a bit bland.  I put some sea salt on as well, which makes everything better!

Day 9 on the Fast Metabolism Diet 5 7 13

Today I woke up 20 min before the alarm, which is annoying to say the least.  Im not sure if its this "increased energy" I should be seeing soon or what, but I like to SLEEP!

Another bummer for the morning was the scale - no change from yesterday! I obviously start thinking of the whys and what did I do wrong? But I then go back to the chapter in the book about week 2 - my body is a different body going into this week than last and its going to react differently. And, I cant stress about it because that will trigger negative reaction with the hormones in my body which causes more harm. So, Im going to relax and let it be what it is!  Plus, I know that I wont lose another 8 lbs this week - but I am hoping for at least 3, maybe 4.  Well see how the week plays out.

I feel good today, I got to work earlier since I got up early, its beautiful out and Im nourished with healthy, clean foods that I prepared. Which reminds me, our dishwasher runs DAILY now! Its kind of insane how many dishes are used to make homemade meals, but well worth it.

Tonight was busy with dance and t-ball but once we got home, I started the pot for soup and went to work out while it simmered.  Since it had been a few  hours since I last ate, I had some pineapple right before exercising - "Dont fast before going fast!" (Haylie quote from the book)  I kind of felt like Super Mom with all the things I accomplished this evening!

Morning Weigh In:
Kiana: 154.8 lbs
Anthony: 149.6 lbs

Menu:

Breakfast @ 6:15am:
Oatmeal with blueberries

Snack @ 9:15am:

Snack @ 9:00pm:Pineapple

Workout:
45 minute jog on the treadmill

Notes on Food:
I could of had that Chicken Sausage Fusilli for every meal today - it is so good!  Sorry, no pic - I ate it too fast!  LOL - next week.

Heres a pic of the Broccoli and Chicken rice bowl - still a favorite and the kids like it too!

Week 9 Weigh in Results

Well today is my last day of week 9 on Medi-Weightloss and I had my weigh-in this morning before work.  Originally I had my weigh-in scheduled for Saturday at 10:30 am but Saturday is opening day of fishing season and the hubby wanted to get an early start so I rescheduled.  Unfortunately that means that I had 2 fewer days to lose on the week following Easter dinner BUT my news wasnt all bad.

Everything said & done, I actually GAINED 0.2 lb (which is trivial at best) but LOST 1.3 lbs of FAT.  Id say thats a winning situation considering I overate last Sunday AND ate Chinese food one night this week.  The Chinese food happened because I honestly just had a craving and it wouldnt go away so I figured just get it out of my system so I could get back on track.  I ordered well (Moo Goo Gai Pan and Beef Teriyaki) and ate probably half of what I would have eaten previously (if not less), so it was a splurge and it didnt do too much damage - although the sodium probably contributed to my excess water this week.

Despite my minor bump up in weight Im proud to have gotten enough exercise this week (through filing, walking & moving furniture around) that I was still able to lose a significant amount of fat.

And last night I made an old favorite for dinner.  My husbands grandmother passed away last year and left a legacy of wonderful food in our hearts.  This recipe is one of hers that we both love and is even Medi-Friendly!

Squash & Eggs

1 medium zucchini, peeled & diced (~3/4 cup total)
1/2 medium yellow onion, diced (~1/4 cup total)
1 clove garlic, minced
6 large eggs
1 Tbsp Fat Free Parmesan Topping
butter flavored non-stick spray
salt & pepper to taste

Heat large frying pan over medium heat and spray with non-stick butter flavored spray.  Add zucchini, onion & garlic.  Saute vegetables until onions are translucent and squash is tender.  In a large bowl, beat eggs with a wire whisk.  Lower heat under vegetables slightly and add beaten eggs, salt & pepper.  Scramble in the pan occasionally to keep from sticking.  When eggs & vegetables are almost set but still slightly runny, sprinkle with Parmesan topping (or Parmesan/Romano cheese) and scramble again to mix in the cheese.  Allow to fully set in the pan then serve hot.

Note:  This makes enough for 2-4 people, depending on the meal, side dishes, etc.  Also reheats very well for make-ahead breakfasts to just pop in the microwave.  Original recipe would have used butter or olive oil to cook the veggies and Parmesan or Romano cheese in place of the topping.

Week 9

Roarke

Weight: 10 lbs 7 oz

Length: 22 3/4 inches

Monthly Check Up: This month was when we got our shots. Yikes! Roarke got six different shots and the process about broke my heart. Roarke only cried for a little bit, but knowing he was in pain was hard. The doctor said that everything was looking good and he is on target with where is is suppose to be. Once again she commented on how alert and easy going he is. I cant help but wonder if this is something she says to everyone or if he is really more mellow than most babies.

Post Shots: I was really concerned with how he would take the shots. Ive heard horrible stories from some parents about the days following. The doctor said to give him Infant Tylenol, a warm bath, and do bicycles with his legs to work the medication through. When we got home from the doctor Roarke napped for quite some time. But when he woke up the water works started and I could definitely tell my sweet fella was in some pain. He cried through his entire bath and most of the evening, but when I finally got him to sleep he slept through the entire night and woke up with smiles all over his face. The next day it was like nothing had happened. RELIEF!

Roarke is changing more and more each day. I truly cannot get over how big he is getting and how much more of his personality is coming out. At the beginning of the month Roarke surprised us by learning to roll over from tummy to back on both the left and right sides. I also have been shocked with the fact that babies are able to projectile poop. Roarke surprised me a few mornings by shooting poop across the room! WOW! I quickly learned to let him work his morning "gifts" out before opening up his diaper! Roarke has been discovering his hands and fingers and is getting closer and closer to sucking on his fingers and thumbs. He is focusing more and more on people, objects, and his buddy Remington (and his wagging tail). He enjoys staring at bright lights and ceiling fans and has recently enjoyed listening to me read books to him and looking at the pictures. We have enjoyed the huge smiles we get on a daily basis from him.
